Behavioral health at Ohana Care Clinic is provided in partnership with OhanaPsych, one of Hawaiʻi’s largest outpatient psychiatry practices. Together we deliver comprehensive psychiatric care for the whole ʻohana — children, adults, and kūpuna — by secure telehealth anywhere in the state, and in person at our Hilo clinic. We proudly accept Hawaiʻi Medicaid (QUEST), Medicare, and most commercial insurance, because quality mental health care should be within reach for everyone in our community.

Psychiatric care for every stage of life

Our team evaluates, diagnoses, and treats people across the entire lifespan. For children and adolescents, we care for anxiety, depression, attention and focus difficulties (ADHD), autism spectrum needs, mood swings, and sleep problems, and we offer neurocognitive testing when it helps clarify a diagnosis. For adults, we treat anxiety, depression, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress, psychosis, schizophrenia, and sleep difficulties, along with neurocognitive evaluations. For kūpuna (older adults), we provide compassionate geriatric psychiatry for anxiety, depression, mood disorders, delirium, sleep changes, agitation and behavioral disturbances, sundowning, apathy and withdrawal, grief and adjustment, and memory-related conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. For seniors living in skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities, our team also provides on-site, facility-based psychiatric care.

Same-day mental health crisis care

When a mental health concern can’t wait, you shouldn’t have to spend the day in an emergency room. We offer urgent, same-day or next-day crisis visits for both adults and children — for concerns such as depression, hallucinations, mood episodes, psychosis, and other mental health crises. For everyone’s safety, controlled substances are not prescribed during crisis visits, and a true, life-threatening emergency should always go to 911 or the nearest emergency room.

Specialized care for serious mental illness

We specialize in caring for people living with serious mental illness, and we welcome them. For clients who need long-acting injectable medications, our pharmacy partnerships allow us to arrange for injections to be delivered and administered right in your own home, on any island — so no one misses a dose for lack of transportation. We partner closely with case management companies and community support teams, we welcome clients being discharged from Hawaiʻi State Hospital, and we work alongside forensic treatment teams — all with the goal of helping you stay stable, supported, and thriving in your community.

Medication management, therapy & telehealth

Our care includes thoughtful medication management with ongoing monitoring, as well as supportive psychotherapy and psychoeducation for clients and their families. Most visits take place over Doxy.me, a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform that needs no downloads and works on any device — so you can be seen from the comfort of home, anywhere in Hawaiʻi.

Insurance — Medicaid (QUEST), Medicare & commercial

We are one of the few psychiatric practices in Hawaiʻi that welcomes Medicaid. We accept Hawaiʻi QUEST / Med-QUEST (Medicaid) plans — including AlohaCare, HMSA QUEST Integration, ʻOhana Health Plan, and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan — as well as Medicare and most commercial insurance.
